Overview
A shopping app for a retail business whose customers browse on slow and intermittent connections. The catalogue works offline, carts survive being closed, and order status is readable at a glance without opening a support chat.

What wasn'tworking.
The existing mobile site lost the cart on every connection drop, and customers were calling the shop to ask where their order was. Both problems produced the same outcome — abandoned purchases and a support load that grew with every sale.
How weapproached it.
We treated connectivity as the primary design constraint rather than an error case. The catalogue is cached locally and refreshed in the background; cart writes are queued and replayed. Order status was designed as four plain-language stages, because the underlying logistics detail was noise to the customer and the shop.
What shipped.
Offline-first catalogue
Products, images and prices cached on device with background refresh, so browsing continues through dead zones.
Durable cart
Cart state persists locally and reconciles with the server on reconnect, including price and stock changes.
Order tracking
Four-stage status with push notifications on each transition, replacing the majority of 'where is my order' contacts.
Store-ready release pipeline
Signed builds, staged rollout and crash reporting configured for both Play Store and App Store.
